COLLEGE GOVERNORS

The College Board of Governors met yesterday. Mr. W. H. P. Barber was m the chair, and there were also present Mrs. Kine, Messrs. R. Darroch, b\ Holdsyorth, X. Forsyth, M.P., and G. F. Judd (secreaA[r Barber stated' that the Department had agreed to repair any damage done by the recent storm to Rongotai College, \\cllington East Girls' College, and Wellingtolt was mentioned that slates were giving trouble at Rongotai and the Last Girls Colleges. The chairman said the board was doing all it could. The schools were closed at present, and the slates would be fixed /before they opened again. -Miss Greig, pnncipal of Wellington Girls' College,.wrote that,several. mattersneeded attention'in the .school-grounds She suggested' that' a .committee .should visit the school early next term and sec for themselves what was ; required. Jt was decided that' Mrs. Kane'and Colonel Mitchell should do this. ' ■ . It was decided to obtain copies of the Navy League map for each college-at a %££&*& of the colleges are to be asked to forward a copy of the school prospectuses proposed for next year, so that the board may consider them. A basement light at the Wellington East Girls' College, was authorised at a cost of £8 17s 6d, and a basin in the bins We pavilion for £9 13s. Repairs to the roof of the Girls' College were agreed to, the cost to bo £55, aiid the work to be done as soon as possible. ■ Miss Greig wrote that the sewing, classes ,nt the Girls' College had increased, and the present sewing room was too small. She suggested that the biology room should be used for sewing, and the present sewing room as a typewriting room. ±ne board agreed to notify the Department on the matter so that officers might make an early inspection.
