BRITISH RACECOURSES
♦ THE "TOTE" AND THE TURF INTRODUCTION" NEXT SEASON British Official Wireless. KUGBY, 28th August.., The recently appointed Betting Control Board anticipates that the introduction of tho totalizator on'racecourses is unlikely to take place before the commencement of tho next flat-racing season, but the chairman of the board says that there seems no reason why the parimutuel should not be worked in the meantime. The first duty of the board will.be to appoint an expert committee to visit courses where the totalisator is in operation and to examine other inventions with a view to securing the best machine for the purpose. The board has advertised, inviting inventors to communicate with them. Under the Act the board can either operate tatalisators itself or relegate them to authorised persons.
