LOWER HUTT COURT
Mr. J. H. Salmon, S.M., presided over the monthly sitting of t!ic Lower Hutt Magistrate's iCourt yesterday. Ernest Willis Biggs, Dose Matoe, and Ihaia Pukutapu were charged with disorderly behaviour in Wahvetu road. Tlie charge against Biggs "was dismissed, while Matoe and Pukutapu were convicted and fined £3 and £2 respectively. For being on licensed premises after hours, David Kay was lined £2. ■Walter S. Long was fined 10s for having no rear light on his motor-cycle, and £1 for speeding. Stuart M'Millan was convicted of being £50 in arrears of maintenance and sentenced to three months' imprisonment, the warrant to be suspended while £2 2s fid a week is paid, being the current order and 2s Cd off arrears. Kenneth Humphreys was ordered to pay 30b and 40a a week for the maintenance of his wife and six children respectively, and to pay £20 past maintenance. Judgment for plaintiffs by default was given in the following undefended civil cases:—H. F. Walker v. A. T. Gorrie, £6 17s; H. J. Archer v. J. M'Namara, £5 10s; Edmeades and Maeaskill v. O'Leary and Nichols, £16 12s Od. In the defended case Antonio Stella v. Frank Ferretti judgment was given for the plaintiff under the Equity and Good Conscience clause for £10. In judgment summons cases Leonard England was ordered to pay V. V. Hagart £& 16 3d at the rate of 5s per week, in default five days' imprisonment; V.Hayes to pay A. E. Parkin £2 0s Od forthwith, in default forty-eight hours' imprisonment; J. Williams to pay L. W. Hobbs £3 9s 6d forthwith, in default three days' imprisonment; R. Foote to • pay J. D. O'Sullivan £5 11s 6d at the rate of £1 per month, in default five days' imprisonment; J. Williams to pay W. Webb £1 15s forthwith, in default forty-eight hours' imprisonment.
