PERSPIRING PANEGYRICS
ROBINSON FOR VICE-PRESIDENT Australian Press Association. (Received 30th June, 9 a.m.) HOUSTON, 29th June. With the nomination of Senator Robinson a virtual certainty, perspiring Democrats, however, were hardly ready to pass over the opportunity for hot weather oratory. Dozens Of persons wore put into nomination in speeches lasting half an hour or more. The place literally dripped with felicitous eulogies' of most inconsequential and unknown political figures. It seemed obvious that nb, t by bread alone did the Democrats live, but by oratory Mrs. Nellie Boss, ex-Governor of Wyoming, was among those nominated, but when tho flow of speeches ended, the Robinson nomination was routine -nd perffenctory. The Senator received 1032 votes on the first ballot, and the convention did not even bother to make it unanimous. Everybody was gazing home, moist and fagged, but satisfied. Tho convention was over.
