DAWN ASSHETON
Widespread interest lias been aroused in the announcement that Miss Dawn Asshcton, tho famous singer of folk songs, Is to make her reappearance again at the Town Hall (Concert Chamber) next Thursday ' and Saturday, sth and 7th-July. Her performance at Dimodin recently caused great enthusiasm and discussion, and she received an ovation from a crowded audience. The Duncdin "Star," commenting on the performance, reporled us follows: —"Tho follt music of many nations, its1 primitive beauty untainted by modernism, and all the mystic lore with which it is inseparably bound, hare found ;i unique interpreter in Miss Assheton. The recital given by her on Saturday evening was a memorable one. This gifted singer has something really new In musical 'art to present, and it Is with consummate artistry and charm 'that she brings out all the hidden beauties of music which, unhappily, must be unfamiliar to most people. Her voice is a rich and cultured soprano." Miss Assheton Is associated with Laszlo Schwartz, the eminent Hungarian violinist-composer.
