THE NEW TURKEY
PACT WITH ITALY POLITICAL SIGNIFICANCE "Timfcs" Cables.' (Received 31st May, 1 p.m.) LONDON, 30th May. The Rome correspondent of "The Times", reports that Sigfcor Mussolini and the Tutkish Ambassador have signed an Italo-Turkish pact of neutrality, conciliation, and arbitration. . This is ...interpreted as meaning the end of lingering Turkish suspicions. Italy points out-that this is the first instrument of its kind that Turkey lias concluded with any Western Power except Soviet Russia. Thus Italy is confident that the now Turkey is breaking away from the legendary European policy which has long regarded Turkey as the "sick man of Europe."
