SACRED CONCERT

The siicrod concert held in the Town Hall lust- evening proved to bo a litting conclusion to the Anzac Day observances. The concert was organised by tho Wellington lietimicd Soldiers' Association, and the programme waa arranged by Mr. H. Temple White. Assistance was given by tho Commercial Travellers' Male Voice Choir (under tho direction of Air. White) and the singing of a number of part songs, including "The Long Day' Closes" (Sullivan), "Fallen Heroes" (Jenkins), "Requiem" (Homer), and "Land of Hope a-ud Glory" (Blgar) was a feature of tho concert. Mrs. Wilfred Andrews snug Hough ton's setting of Thomas Bracken's well-known poem, "Not Understood," and in response to an encoro she sang "Friend o' Mine." Others who contributed to the success of tho programme- were: Miss Kathleen Jausen (who sang "Alleluia"), Mr. Clement May (who recited "Atoms" and "Jteguius tho Roman"), Miss Jcanetto Hriggs (who sang "There's a Land"), Miss Ailccn Noble (who snug "Tho Lament of Isis" and "Angus Macdonald"), Mrs. Eric Meier, a violinist (who played tho first movement from Grieg's ''Sonata in C Minor," Liilo'a "Russian Chant," and Kveisler's "Liebesfreud"), Mr. R. Hill (who sang "Bright is the Ring: of Words" and "April in a Gown of Blue"), and Mr. C. Hickmott (who. sang Sullivan's "Lost Chord"). Mr, White was at the organ, and tho accompanists were Misses Kls;i Walter and Lila Hill and Mr. D. H. White.
