HEMP MARKET.
.Kibres generally are reported as declining in price in the 'world's market since between October and November, und «lthough Manila values did not suffer earlier in the season, they have not escaped the influences of over-supplied markets. During the past six weeks there has been a tendency for sellers to make sacrifices in order to deadstocks of New Zealand hemp. Values for export to-day are good fair £28; high fair £20 10s, low fair £24, common £23, and rejected £22. Business is very restricted, even at these prices, and it is bplieved 'that many London dealers are not at present in a position to buy direct from New Zealand, being engaged on the disposal of their own stocks. The present range of values will have the effect of. millers closing down rather earlier than usual and production will, be considerably below average during the coming winter months. History shows, however, that a depression in the-hemp.-market as is at present prevailing in followed by v revival and therefore it would. not; be surprising' if next season proves decidedly better than that now closing. . ■ .. *
