REGENT THEATRE.
Comedy and tragedy are well mixed at the Kegent this week. With her beauty and fun, Esther Ralston has made a great success of "Figures Don't Lie," which tells of the innocent adventures of an insurance agent with his efficient secretary, who, unfortunately for his wife's peace of mind, is as beautiful as she is capable. Nor is the agents' wife the only jealouS person in the piece. Mr. Blewe, the new sales manager, finds great difficulty in over looking several apparently compromising actions on the part of his heart's desire, and so the employer and the employee are faced with a couple of pistols and a good deal of explaining beforo the former is reunited to his wife, and the latter to her sweetheart. It is as the much-beset secretary that Esther Ralston does so well. "Stark Love" is a strange and gripping story of a little-known part of the world and its little-known people. The Appalachian mountains are sparsely inhabited by prlmitivo fam;«^ whose daily Hfe is of the crudest, and their acting in this film gives the story the right touch of realism and force. Comedy comes to the fore again in the third picture of the programme, "Sinbad the Sailor," featuring the three clever monkey actors, Max, Moritz, and Akka, who on 10th February will be appearing in person at the Regent, the previous arrangement for 3rd February having been alter." cd. Last night's audience was delighted with their amazingly clever acting in "The Sailor." A news film and orchestral music completed an excellent evening's entertainment.
