Jack, of Putney, a dog who sa,w, wart service in Flanders, and was wounded three times, has just celebrated his twentieth birthday. He had a birthday party, with a cake surmounted by; twenty candles. He sat at the head of the table, and, with his mistress holding the right paw, cut the eske himself with a silver knife. There were seven guests, sis human beinga and one dog, Moo, a Pekingese. Jack had three slices of cake, and afterwards presented each of his guests with a eilk handkerchief. He wont out taf Mons with his former master, a major ii the Twenfth Lancers, in 1914, and serv« ed three years at Mons and Ypresj where, he killed over 1000 rats in the British trenches. , His master was killed at Mons in 1917.
