PARAMOUNT THEATRE.

The ltoyiil Australian Sunbeams, a happy, clever band of youthful entertainers, opened tlieir season at tho Paramount Theatre yesterday afternoon and last evening, and, judging by the unstinted applause following each turn success and maintained tho high reputation with which they have come to New Zealand. Kat-h member of the company has been highly trained; the costumes and colourful lighting effects, together with the perfection of movement throughout the various ballets, are fine tributes to the ability of the directress, Miss Crissie Koyal. as well as to tlie talent of the young company. The entertainment opens with a chorus "Hullo, New Zealand," with solos "No Wonder I'm Happy" and "Bell Boy" by Jackie Clark and little Dorcen. Then follows Gwcn Jones, well called "Tho Bouncing Sunbeam" in ii wonderful acrobatic display. The ballets include "Eastern Fantasia," with Thelma Forest leading; "Radiant Ballet," ' Alice Johnson leading; and "The Sunset Bullet." Those dances are delightfully rendered, and tho stage is a pretty picture during the performances. The .special accompunying music contributed by tho Paramount Orchestra has been well chosen, and adds materially to the entertainment; and tho initial success won ensures a continuation of public approval throughout the season of "The Itoyal Sunbeams." Included in tho full programme is an excellent "Topical Budget" of prominent 3»rltlsh, American, and Continental events, an always welcome Horn. Thero is also a flue comedy picture, entitled "The Clinging Vine." with Beatrice Joy and Tom Moore in the leading parts. In addition lo the instrumental music the Para mount Orchestra (Mr. Gladstone Hill conductor) renders the popular "Belle of New York" overture and "Scottish Patrol."
