CARNIVAL AT LOWER HUTT
CAMERON'S 100 YARDS RECORD Favoured with perfect weather, the swimming carnival in the Riddiford Baths ati Lower Hutt on Saturday afternoon provided excellent entertainment for the spectators, who taxed the seating accommodation to the utmost. Most of the events drew good entries, and some closely-con-tested races resulted. A notable performance was that of W. Cameron, who put up a New Zealand fresh-water record for the 100 yards, doing the distance in 59 2-ssec. The same swimmer was also successful in the 220 yards breast stroke, while the 440 yards event was won easily by C. Claridge. The following are the results: — 100 yds Championship Trial.—W.
