MEAT MARKET FIRM.
Messrs. Levin and Co., Ltd., have received the following cable from their London agents, dated 6th January:—"Frozen meat quotations (prices on a 'delivered' basis, i.e., including storage charges, cartage, tolls, etc.):—Down lamb, 281b to 421b, ll%d per lb; best North Island, 281b to 421b, UHd; ordinary North Island, 281b to 421b, none offering; second quality lamb, 10d per lb; best North Island wethers, 481b to 641b, 6V 2 d; 641b to 721b, 594 d; ordinary North Island wethers, 481b to 641b, 6 l-8d; North Island ewes, 481b to 641b, sd: 641b to 721b, 4 5-8 d; New Zealand prime ox beef, 1601b to 2201b, 4 5-Bd. As compared with last week's quotations, best heavy wethers are %d per lb higher and best light wethers l-8d per lb higher; crthers unchanged. The market is firm but .quiet. The demand is poor."
