In his annual address to the members of the Stock Exchange, Mr. _. Woods, tho chairman, expressed concern at the rate at which Australia was borrowing. Ho said that -conorny with discretion appeared to be more necessary than over. The National Debt was increasing at a greater rate than it should do. The question of tho National Debt should be carefully examined. For tho past year borrowing had increased by nearly £35,000,000. There seemed to be a tendency to get everything under control, except the cost of production and borrowing.
