Josopk Aspinall, 53 years of ago, of London, was sontoncod to four yoars, and his son James to nine months' imprisonmont, for obtaining, by falso protoncos, £16,000 from forty-three persons in connection with tho now Grozny oildfiolds, holding oil-boaring land in Russia, at present valuoloss owing to its boing confiscated by Bolsheviks. Tho Aspinalla represented that they hold a majority of tho shares,, and induced would-bo investors to subscribo sums ranging from £30 to £2000 to assist tho schomo to forco np tho markot. Tho police inspector mud that tho older prisonor had obtained nearly £200,000 fraudulently in tho last twonty yoars. Tho polico rogardod him as an unscrupulous swindler.
