NEW SOUTH WALES PROGRESS
(From "Tho Post's" Representative.) SYDNEY; Ist September. The year 1030 promises to mark oneof the most eventful epochs in the history of New South Wales. It will see in all probability the opening of the Empiro Exhibition in Sydney, the simultaneous completion of the giant harbour bridge ana tho city underground railway, the arrival in Sydney of the h'rst of the luxurious airship liners in tho air service between England and Australia, and the completion of the second biggest dam in tho world, with a water area about four or live times tliat of Sydney Harbour. This is what is known as the Humo Dam, which will 1)0 ready for partial uso oven before 1930. The purpose of this great work primarily, is to provido a stonigo for maintaining the flow in tho lower Murray River during dry years. It is. calculated also that tho hydroelectric scheme, which will bo installed will supply cheap manufacturing and domestic power for all the towns and settlements in New South Wales and the neighbouring State of Victoria within a radius of 100 or 150 miles of tho reservoir. It will undoubtedly bo a great tourist resort, sinco the valley of the Murray at this point contains some of the most beautiful country in Australia. '
