DEMAND FOR RETURN
THE LEAGUE AS LEVER
(United Press Association.—Copyright.) BERLIN, 19th Sept. At the annual meeting of the Colonial Association, which has a membership of 20,000, the customary resolutions demanding the ( return of the German colonies were carried, and a significant speech was made by Professor Henning upon the exploitation of the League of Nations for German colonial needs. He insisted that Germany held the best trumps in the negotiations at Geneva, and it was unpardonable 'if she did not use them. She could direct annihilating criticism at Geneva on the way many of the mandates were administered. If the mandatory Powers treated German colonies as their own possessions, then Germany was ontitled to have the value of the colonies credited to her against reparations.
Another speaker said that it was a bitter truth that Germany would never get her colonies again until she was able to throw the weight of her power into the scale.
