GISBOBNE, This Day. The Gisborne Eacing Club's Winter Meeting was heia to-day. Results:—
Park Hurdles Handicap, of 150 soys: one mile and three-quarters.— 2 Highway, 11.5, 1; 1 Eoyal Heather, 10.3, 2: C Tino Maunga, 9.3, 3. Scratched: Arataura. Won by a head, with five lengths between second and third. Time, 3min 19 l-ssec. Eoyal Heather, though badly placed early, eventually led to the straight, but Highway made the best finish. The others were well back.
Maiden Hack Race, of 110 soys; five furlongs.—3 Essential, 9.0, 1; 1 Abisogne, 9.0, 2; 7 Jen, 9.0, 3. Scratched: Heatherteen, Eotigo. Won by a neck, with one and a half lengths between second and third. Time, lmin i 2-ssec. Essential was smartest away, and led the field to the post, staving off a challenge by Abisogne in the straight.
Flying Handicap, of 165 soys; sis furlongs.—2 Superb King, 9.3, 1; 5 Startle, 9.10, 2; 1 Kaiti, 10.4, 3. Scratched: Boyal Diadem, Buoyant, Othon. Won by a head. Time, lmin 17 2-5 sec. The first four horses were bunched in a close finish.
G-isborne Steeplechase, of 200 sovsthree miles.—l Garzon, 10.0, 1; 3 MaMa, 9.8, 2; 4 Momentous, 9.0, 3. Scratched: Lombardo. Won by a length,, ■with eight lengths between second and third. Time, 6min 31see.
