HUTT VALLEY POWER BOARD
The monthly meeting of the Hutf Valley Power Board was(held "yesterday. Present: Messrs. A. J. *Hobbs (chairman), A. J. M'Curdy, A. Anderson, W. H. P. Barber, S. Blacklcy, H. W. Lawrence, B. Windley, L. Stewart/ A. Walker, and A. W. Press. The Lower Hutt Borough Council advised that it had reconsidered the charge made to the board for prepar-. dng and printing election rolls. It was still considered that the charge was a fair one, and consequently the, board was asked to forward the balance due of £19 7s 7dIt was decided that tho board wouid have to abide by the council's decision. At the close of the meeting the board went into committee to consider the re-, port on overdue installation accounts. Tho board's engineer (Mr. E. Bicker* staff)_ in his monthly report stated that 160 line poles and eight service poles had been erected during the month. The main lino from Plimmerton to Pukerua Bay had been wired, and the. wiring, of the Bay was proceeding. The Lower Hutt fire alarms had been, completed and tested, and the fira alarm lights in Petono had been overhauled. The following information relative, to the number of consumers and the demand for current was also tendered; figures giving comparisons with last: year and bracketed. The number o( tested installations. made daring thi. month was 145 (174), making a total number of 6126 installations (4470). The connected load for the period comprised: Light 6 k.w. (86 k.w.), heat 326 k.w. (426 k.w.), power 119 k.w. ("I k.w.). The total connected load to date was 16,930 k.w. (11,374 k.w.). During the month 15 electric ranges, 1 cow-plant, and 20 water heaters were installed. The maximum demand during tho month occurred at 5 p.m. on Monday, 20th June, when the load reached 2121 kilowatts. For tho same period last year the peak load was at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, the loth June, when. the demand reached 1405 kilowatts. A fault occurred on Monday, 11th' July, at 8.45 p.m., when a fuse blew; out at tho girder bridgo : snb-station. One foreman oould not bo located, and the other had no spare fuses. The power was off in that section for one hour and forty-five minutes. The trouble will bo obviated in future by botli foremen carrying spare fuse holders.
