STREET COLLECTIONS

(By Telegraph.)

(Special to "The Evening Post.")

CHBISTCHUECH, This Day. A protest against the granting of so many permits for street collections was made by Councillor Andrews at last night's meeting of the City Council. He said that it was the same people who were being asked to contribute all the time, and he suggested that a better method would be to hold one street collection quarterly and ha^e the proceeds divided.

Councillor Sullivan said that the Bylaws Committee was adhering as nearly as possible to the policy of holding one collection per month. He doubted whether the suggestion made by Councillor Andrews would be workable, but it would be considered.
