FURTHER LOAN PROBABLE

As was announced by the Mayor (Mr. G. A. Troup) at the last City Council meeting, certain city, works, the cost of which has been subsidised by the Government, are to be put in hand at once.

The council lias already approved of a loan of £10,000 for relief works, but it is considered likely that a further loan will be necessary in order to carry out all the proposals on the schedule. It is anticipated that the cost will amount to & 40,000, and that the Government subsidy will bo hi the vicinity of £14,000.
