AUCKLAND, This Day. The question of the extension * of trade relations between Canada and New Zealand was discussed last evening by two prominent Canadian bankers, Mr. P. C. Harrison, manager of tho San Francisco branch of the Bank of Montreal, and Mr. A. S. Minnion, manager of the foreign department of tho bank in Montreal, who arrived at Auckland yesterday by the Aorangi. Tho bank is among the ten largest in the world, and is interested in several important Canadian concerns which trade with New Zealand, and the visitors will call upon their clients here to make themselves acquainted with trade conditions.
Their mission has . the, friendly cooperation of the. Department of Trade and Commerce in Canada, which is very anxious to develop trade within the Empire. ,
Mr. Harrison stated that Now Zealand was held in very high regard in Canada, and Canada would welcome any representatfe of New Zealand traders. Canada had a Trade Commissioner in New Zealand, but there was no Commissioner representing New Zealand in Canada. Much more could be done if the representation were reciprocated. At present Canada -was not passing through a boom. Immigration of a suitable class was one of the great needs of tho country, and this was receiving tho Government's consideration.
