WESLEY DEFEAT 'VARSITY.
Wesley and 'Varsity were evenly matched and provided as good a contest as could be expected on the heavy ground. In the first spell, Wesley, did most of the attacking, and scored twice, both goals being from the stick of Johnston. Wesley were playing against the wind, which was a considerable handicap.. The change-over was made without the usual interval. Shortly afterwards, the students were awarded a penalty' bully: for obstruction by Wesley's right full-back, Pyle, and Simpson was successful in netting. Priestley equalised^ within a few minutes after a desperate tussle in the Wesley circle, but Wesley went away towards the end, with the result that Watkinson scored. The game ended: Wesley 3, -Varsity 2. Mr. R. Lloyd was referee.
