AN AMERICAN SCHEME
TRANSOCEANIC FLYING
AS IMPETUS TO TRADE
(United Press Association.—Copyright.)
(Received 18th June, 9 a.m.)
WASHINGTON, 17th June.
The impetus to transoceanic flyiug furnished by the Lindberg and Chamberlin flights is expected soon to lead to a new American movement for transAtlantic dirigible lines, in which group prominent bankers and industrialists are interested. Plans for. the-develop-ment of such a service are also likely to be hastened on account of the rapid progress in foreign countries, particularly in Britain and Germany, both of which have laid the groundwork for passenger and freight lines. The American group interested is the same which negotiated with the Gov. eminent in 1925 for the.lease, of the dirigible Los Angeles for commercial purposes, which plan was temporarily upset by the Shenandoah's crash. The group will-determine whether to proceed on its own initiative or await the navy's experiments shortly with a 6,000,000 cubic foot dirigible.
