THE BRITISH.MOTOR-CYCLE

Probably the first motor-cyclists engaged on a tour of the.world to reach Australia, although not tho "first to attempt this longthy ride, are Messrs. Cathrick ana Castley, two Englishmen, who recently arrived in Fremantle, Western Australia. They have already traversed many countries of Europe, including France, Spain, Portgual, Italy, Austria, Gzecho-Slovakia, Hungary, Jugo-Slavia, Bulgaria, and Turkey. From Constantinople they crossed to Palostine, -md visited Damascus, Jerusalem, Bagdad, ..Teheran (Persia), and entered India. There they visited Quetta, Karachi, and Bombay, and crossed the country to Calcutta, coyering 2000. miles in 14 days without mishap. From Calcutta, Messrs. Castley and Cathrick travelled by boat to Penang, and rode to Singapore, where they took ship for Batavia, and rode to Sourabaya. From Sourabaya they took ship again for Fremantle.

Beforo leaving Perth, the motorcycles were handed in to the,agents for a complete overhaul'to fit them for the strenuous trip across Australia, via Ade; laide, Melbourne, and Sydney. The tour is being made as a world-wide demon-: stratum of the superiority of British' motor-cycles under all conditions. The cycles are equipped with heavy sidecars, on which are carried.the tourists'' equipment. An account of the expert- 1 ences of Messrs. Castley and Cathrick arc to bo broadcasted from the..capital cities of the Commonwealth.
