DAIRY BREEDS

ELIMINATING SCEUB BULLS.

The meeting of the Now Zealand Dairy Breeds Federation to-day discussed a proposed scheme to eliminate the scrab bull, the main feature being •ieser attention to the question of herdtesting. Mr 0..5. C. Dermer (Cheltenham) stressed the importance of testing and expressed the view that the Government should be asked to assist tho various factories, and should also be asked to assist suppliers who wished to go in for the pure-bred bull. Propaganda was also desirable.

Mr "W. M. Singleton, Director of the Dairy Division, thought that the scheme was quite a logical one. As a departmental^ officer he would be willing to consider the scheme in all its aspects, including the legal aspect. The opinion was expressed by Mr JF. Mills that-there did not appear to bo any great demand for pure-bred bulls. When the demand became general the Government could bo asked to assist. It was decided to accept Mr Singleton's offer to give consideration to tho matters discussed.
