SCARLET FEVEI
MILD EPIDEMIC

The latest figures available are those for the week ended noon on Monday. These show a total of 66 cases and on* death for the whole of New Zealand. Of these .66 cases, 9 occurred in thi;* Wanganui-Horowhenua health district," 15 in. the Wairarapa-East Cape district," 13 in the Central Wellington health district, while the remainder were distributed amongst the other ten health districts into which New Zealand is divided for administrative purposes.' These latest figures show an increase of 4 over those of the preceding week, for the Dominion.
The Health Department has takes, special measures to deal with this outbreak, and has communicated with 'all headmasters of schools, advising them of the occurrence of the epidemic, and asking them to take all care to see that no unrecognised cases of the disease attend school, and that, contacts «fc known cases are not admitted nntil they have been seen by a school nurse and passed as free from infection. The public themselves can do a great deal in restricting an outbreak of this sort; and' the Health Department invites their cooperation in the matter. ' ' .:
