(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
■ CHBISTCHJTRCH, This Day. , "Mere eyewash," was the description applied' by an engine' driver of over forty years' experience to the finding of the Railway Court of inquiry that the Timaru derailment wag caused by stones on the line.
"This is not the first time," he saidj "that .a derailment has occurred at the: same spot with the same class of engine. Stones could riot "have" caused it; even once, let alone twice. If- a stone big enough ;to put ft seventy-five-toii. engine off the road could get under th« cowcatcher the -wheels would krioek it off the line: I think the v cowcatcheris only four inches';above'the rail. 1 ': ' ':':.
