SYDNEY, This Day.
In the Commonwealth Arbitration Court Chief Judge- Dethridge, referring to piece work, said that the favourable conditions that obtained in industry today . compared with other countries, could only be preserved, if payments by" results' were adopted. Th"b Judge said thAt he had a very strong'objection to degrading the first-class man in industry. He believed in giving tho first-class man first-class wages. The Australian Workers' Union representative replied that tho workers in Australia wero .not opposed to piece work so long as thoy. were guaranteed continual work and the cutting of rates by; employers was stopped.
