A claim for compensation caino bofore tho Arbitration Court to-day, when Peter Murray Robertson proceeded against the Wellington City Council for compensation for tho death of his son. On the Bench wero Mr. Justice Frazer and Messrs. W. Scott and A. L. Monteith. For the plaintiff Mr. P. J. O'Regan appeared, the City Council being represented by Mr. J. O 'Shea. The, circumstances from which the claim arose were that John Robertson, a son of the plaintiff, was working last Christmas hoiidays at the . Wakeficld street power-house. In the course of his duties as a City Council employee ho was working on the roof, _ud iiad tho misfortune to fall through a skylight whilst affixing somo block and taole, and he died shortly afterwards from the effects of the accident. Tho deceased was the eldest of a family of five, and contributed towards tho support of his father and mother and the younger members of the family. Tho question before the Court was the degreo of dependency of tho plaintiff. The Court awarded £120 damages, together with £32 IGs expenses and costs.
