This morning at Government House His Excellency the Governor-General presented to Major E. Vine, Assistant Commissioner of the St. John Ambulance Brigade for the Wellington district, the badge of rank of Serving Brother of the Order of tho Hospital of bt.John of Jerusalem, a distinction which -vjas recently conferred on Major vine by the Grand Priory of the Order.

Bishop Kempthorne arrived at Auckland by the Tofua to-day to visit the outposts of his Polynesian charge, and boarded the warship Diomede for his itinerary which includes Rarotonga, Tahiti, Samoa, Tonga, and dozens of little islands ana groups, off the Usual trade tracks, telegraphs "The Post's" Auckland correspondent.
