PROPER STOCKING

NECESSARY FOR PRODUCTION

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)

GISBORNE, This Day. • A meeting of farmers addressed" by Mr. J. S. Jessep, vice-chairman of this Meat Board, passed a resolution that an adequate stocking with cattle is necessary to prevent the pastures deteriorating and to maintain production. The meeting also approved of the board's proposals to stimulate the export of beef, and urged upon the Government to give effect to the same.

Mr. Jessep stressed in his speech that the'prosperity of the Dominion, depended entirely upon its pastures an* that these could not be maintained without proper stocking. The sheop^ .land required a certain number of cattle, and, as the beef industry/did not pay, the shortage in cattle was causing a serious deterioration in the pasture.
