NEWTOWN v. PETONE.

The score in the Newtown-Petone match by no means showed the difference between the teams, but between a scoring machine and a group of battlers. When the game commenced Newtown immediately attacked, and Keys shortly afterwards romped over. The kick failed. The game resolved itself into a succession of passing bouts by the Newtown backs who were frequently stopped by the good tackling and excellent dribbling efforts of the Petone forwards. The Newtown display was pleasant to watch, and for a team without training, and with several new men, showed wonderful combination, ihe game ended: Newtown 23, Petone 0 Mr. C. Wrack was referee.
