SUBURBAN FIRES
A KHANDALLAH REQUEST
The Khandallah Progressive Association wrote to to-day's meeting of the Fire Board, asking that the district be provided with fire-fighting appliances commensurate with its population. Superintendent J. Crueke said that he would like to have a brigadesman permanently stationed at Khandallah.
Mr. C. J. Norwood: "They have a very active body there, more so than in any other part of the city. If we have a reel available, I don't know of any other district with a better organisation to handle fires until the arrival of the brigade."
The superintendent was instructed to report fully on the matter at the next meeting of the board.
A request from the Haughton "Valley ratepayers for a fire alarm to be installed in. their' district came before to-day'g meeting of the Wellington Fire Board. The secretary atated that he had replied to the letter, informing the ratepayers that the whole fire alarm system would be reviewed when the board's new suburban, stations were in working order, and that the nqoeat would xeoeive favonrable eonchtoration* His action was confirmed.
