A CAPTAIN'S WILL
APPLICATION" TO VARY
An application under tlie Family Protection Act, 1908, was made by the widow and two sons or the late Captain W. I. Collins, ii .former Union Steam Ship Company captain, in the Supreme Court today. Tlie application was for a larger share in the estate. Under the will, which was made in 1023, three years before Captain Collins's death, the testator gave his widow the right to live in a house in Waripori street, and gave her an annuity of £3 a week. To each of hie two sons he gave £2-1 a year till they attained the age of 21 years. He bequeathed five oil paintings to the Sailors' Home at Lytelton. and £I.oo'to a Salvation Army major in Wellington. • The residue of his estate, amounting to approximately £9000. was left to the Kihvinning Lodge (Canterbury). After heaving argument, his Honour (Sir Charles Skerrett) reserved decision. Mr. E. Perry appeared for the widow, Isabella Campbell Collins; Mr. C. A. L. Treadwell for the sons, William Thomas and Thomas Alexander; Mr. Kelly for the Public Trustee, the executor; and Mr. H. H. Cornish for the lodge.
