(A.P.A. and "Sun.") LONDON, 31st May. In the county cricket championship, Somerset, playing against Middlesex, made 227 (Case 78, White 70). Stevens took six wickets for 96 runs. In the second innings Somerset made 806 (Lee 65, Ingle 71, "White 68). Middlesex in the first innings made 290 (Stevens 66, Mann 52). White took six wickets for 59. In the second innings they lost three wickets for 37. Middlesex won on the Urst innings. Against Yorkshire, Surrey made 172 in the first innings, Bhpdes' taking five wickets for 59 runs andTJilher four for 39^ In the second they made 203 (Ducat 59), Kilnor five for 76. Yorkshire made 333 (Sutcliffe 176, Oldroyd 52, Leyland 70). In tho second innings they made 44 for tho loss of no wickots, and won'by ten wickets. Against Oxford, the Army made 388 in the first innings (G. Eyan 116, Stanforth 57), and in the second made 188 for six wickets, declared (G. Ryan 73, Stanforth not out 61). Oxford, in the first innings, -made 328 (Holmea 72, Nunn 98, Newman 64). Joy took five wickets for 70 runs, and Miles five for 115 i In the v second strike they made 112 for three wickets.(Crawlcy not out 57). The match was drawn. Tor Essex against Leicester, Russell mado 104 and O'Connor 139 not out. For Leicester, Shipman made 108 and Skelding tool: six for 93. Leicester won. ' For Lancashire against Worcester, R. Tyldesley took five wickets for 42 runs, and M'Donald seven for 40. ! For Worcester Root in the first innings took six for 48 and in the second four for 32. Lancashire won. For Hampshire against Gloucester, Mead made 187, and Tennyson 102 not i out. For Gloucester Smith mado 100 Neale 145 .iot out, and Hammond 192. Hampshire won. Hammod equalled the record of W. G. Graco ar.d Tom Hayward, scoring one thousand runs before the end of May. . For Kent against Derby, Evans made 100, and Freeman took six wickets for 64 runs and Ashdown five for 29. For Derby, Storer took fivo for 32. Kent won. For Northants against Glamorgan Hawtin made 112. Clark took five for 42 in the first innings, and in the second five for 20. For Glamorgan Ryan took six for 39. Northant3 won
