Police cases at the Magistrate's, Court yesterday were dealt with by Mr. J. H. Salmon, S.M. One first-offending inebriate, who did not appear, was fined the amount of his bail, 10s. ... Charged with the theft of £180, the property of Francis John Mangan, two labourers, Lomas Francis M'Laughlin, aged 30, and Edward John Duggan, aged 40, were remanded to appear to-morrow morning. For his second offence of drunkenness, Hugh Shannon, aged 45, was convicted and discharged.. On a charge of being a rogue and vagabond in that he had insufficient lawful means of support, and had been previously convicted as an idle and disorderly person he was sentenced to three months' imprisonment.

At the Petone Magistrate's Court yesterday, before Messrs. T. Potts and R. W. Short, J.s P., two first offenders for drunkenness, were each convicted and fined 10s. A youth, whose name was ordered to be suppressed, was convicted and fined £5 on a charge of using obscene language.
