ROUGH WEATHER
STEAMERS DELAYED V (By Tslsgraph.) (Special to “The Evening Post”) AUCKLAND, This Day. Stormy weather is delaying a number of vessels at sea. The Wainni, which arrived from Gisborno last evening, encountered Btrong westerly winds in the Bay of Plenty with the result that tho voyage was prolonged by six hours. Tho Tofua, due from Fiji this afternoon, is meeting with heavy weather, and has reported by wireless that sho will not arrive before 7 o’clock tomorrow morning. Another expected arrival at Auckland to-day, the Port Hardy , from London, has reported that sho will not arrive until Thnrsday morning. ‘ Very wet and boisterous wather prevailed in Auckland during the weekend. Bain fell almost continuously from Friday evening until Saturday evening. Tho rainfall for the 48 hours ended 9 o’clock yesterday morning was 1.42 inches. In spite of the discouraging prospects few sports fixtures on Saturday were abandoned. IMPROVEMENT EXPECTED Unsettled weather,' with rain in many parts, has prevailed throughout the Dominion, the passage of a disturbance south of the country being responsible for these conditions. Strong southerly winds veered temporarily to the. west, and gales are reported this morping from many stations. The forecast is for strong south-westerly winds and squally conditions, with cold and changeable weather. The barometer, however, is likely to, rise steadily and a general improvement •in the weather is anticipated.
