The Department o£ Agriculture is advised by the High Commissioner, London, 30th April, as follows:—
Tallow.—Market quiet but steady. Preseut quotations are:—Mutton: Fine, 36a 9d to 37s per ewt; fair to good, 35a 9d to 3Gs 3d; dark to dull, 34s to 355. Beef: Sweet and/or mixed, 37s Cd to 40s; fair to good, 30s to 37s 6d; dark to dull, 33a to 345. Mixed: Fair to good, 35s 6d to 3Z« 3d; dark to dull, 33s to 345. Gut etc~ 30a to 33s 3d. '
Hemp.—Manila market has declined, but closed steadier, with business in J ijrade, April-June and May-July shipments, at £40. Sisal market easier. Sellers quota No 1 May-July shipments £37 15s; NewZealand market without interest on account of Manila easing. No buyers at present, and value nominal. Buyers might consider business at £34 to £31 10s for highpoints, and £33 to £33 10s for fair. Apples.—Market quiet. lonic maiuly good condition, except for Cox's Orange, proportion of which very wasty. Few Delicious and Ribstoue Pippin also not satisfactory. Slackness in jacking again very noticeable. Tears very wasty, some practically unsaleable. All varieties affected except Vicar of Winkfield. ApplesAustralian prices are: Tasmanian Cox's orange, lls to 10s; Kibston Pippin, 11s to 15s; Jonathan, 12s to 10s. West Australian prices: Jonathan, 14s to 15s 6d; Cleopatra, los to 17s; Delicious, 12s to 14a 6d.
Wool: Bradford market continues quiet,waiting opening of sales next week. Quotations about unchanged to" %d lower. Beans: Market quiet. English supplies more limited. Winter making 44s to 455, best spring 52s to 545, and Chinese Horse Spot offered £10 10s.
Cocksfoot.—Danish market is not active. Values May-June shipments 70s. Oats: Market firm and better demand. hughsh best white feed making 28s 6d, Plate May-June-shipments viilue 22s 7%d Chilean afloat sold at 28s 3d; Nominal values New Zealand A grade .gartons 29a
Peas: Maple held firm but demand quiet. lasmanian en routo made 945. and NZ afloat offered Sss, and May-June shipments 80s. Blue depressed on account of further decline of Japanese. Nominal value A grade Tasmanjan about £18.
