MURCHISON OIL COMPANY.
Mr. J A. Spencer, the Murchison Oil Company s geologist, writing on 26th April states:—The gas and oil as reported to be present iv the bore before Easter was temporarily lost, but on recoranitnclmj the drilling to-day it "was recovered utter 9ft hud been driven. Gas and some oil are at the moment of writiDg undoubtedly present in the bore, the gas being inflammable, and >n my opinion it is petroleum gag. It cannot be definitely stated that the main gas has yet been reached, as the occurrence may be due to concentration in Email pockets, but the fact that the drill is passing through gas-laden" strata, with oil at depth, is a favourable indication of oil deposits below.
