UNEMPLOYMENT SCHEME

L.R.C. PROTEST

At a largely-attended meeting of the Wellington Labour Eepresentation Committee held in the Trades Hall lasfc' night the Government's'unemployment scheme was severely criticised.

A motion, moved by Mr. Robert Semple, was carried unanimously entering an emphatic protest against the declaration made by the Prime Minister on the ground that it was an effort to lower the standard of living of the working class generally. The Prime Minister's scheme was described as rcr actionary, and protest was also made against discrimination between married' and single men. The Government's' immigration policy was also condemned.
