BILL TO AMEND ACTS

LONDON, 16th March,
A Bill has been circulated, sponsored by Messrs. M'Neill and Amery, to amend the Pacific Cable Acts, 1901 and 1924. It embodies the provisions for a conference agreement, and permits elasticity in the amount annually paid to tho reserve fund.. It also empowers the board, with the approval of its partners, to undertake for Governments of any Dominions any cable or wireless services witli> the sphere of operation or the Caribbcm Sea; also, if necessary, to provide a news service to the West' Indies similar to that given by tho telegraph companies at the commencement ot the 1924 Act. The new measure operates from Ist April.
