The Northern' forces suffered heavy casualties in a surprise attack at Tungli, which was tho beginning of tho Southerners' groat drive on tho Nanking-Sunkiang fronts. Ten thousand troops are now advancing on Sunkiang, where; only 6500 Northern troops remain.
