SINISTER CHICAGO
STEALING FEDERAL WHISKY
(United Press Association.—Copyright.) (Sydney Sun Cable.) (Received 7th March, 11 a.m.)
NEW YORK, 6th March. Armed with two machine-guns, nine bandits entered Chelius Brothers' gambling house, the largest in Chicago, swept £6000 from the roulette dealers? banks into bags, and decamped without firing a'shot.
The second sensation in Chicago was the arrest of four well-dressed men who lived alongside a Government warehouse containing whisky. They rigged up 600 feet of hose and with pressure pumps syphoned thousands of-gallons of liquor from the tanks. The police captured the culprits after a pistol fight.
