A RUGBY APPEAL
ATHLETIC PAEK. STAND,
The need of a. new grandstand at Athletic Park has long since been felt, and in recent years definite steps have been taken with a view to having a new structure_ erected. At the end of last season an indication was given of the type o£ building to be erected, and it was hoped at that time that the Wellington Rugby Union would see its way clear to make a start with the work during this summer, finance, however, proved a big obstacle, and as the amount of money in view was insufficient to induce the Rugby Union to carry on, the commencement of the work was deferred. Since then further steps have been taken to increase the fund, and one important part of a big scheme to raise the necessary money is "n6w ■ before the public. It is in the form of the Golden Climax" Art Union, and, as will be observed ..elsewhere in this, issue, it should appeal strongly to all sportsmen. Originally the' art union was to close today, but by permission the closing date lias been extended until the 4th March. The hope is that during this extra period n final drive for funds will result in the Wellington Rugby Union being placed in a position which will enable it to face with confidence the erection of the new stand at Athletic Park.
