PtTNEDEST, 9th February. The Otago croquet championship tournament was opened to-day in dull but iine weather, and with greens in. excellent order. Visiting players were" | present from Ckristchurca, Gore, l"n----yercargill, and Alexandra. The follow- | ing are the results of championship games:— \ ' Doubles.—Mesdames M'Creatb. and Durham (Gore) beat Mesdames Osbornp and Walling-Jones (Punga, Dunedin), 26-23; Mesdames Manhire and Horn (Punga) beat Mesdames Gascoigne and Passmore (Punga), 20-24; Mesdames Buchlerand Mynn (Punga) beat Me.ndames Brickell andDixon (Punga),.26--IG. . In addition, several of the games in the preliminary rounds of the handicap events wore played. :
