NEW PLYMOUTH, This Day. The weather is beautifully fine and promises well for the opening of the Taranaki Meeting to-morrow. The track has a good covering of grass, but is on the hard side.
E. George- starts Te Monanui, Mint Leaf, and Royal Mint in the Taranaki Cup. They will be ridden by L. G Morris, J. Barry, and T. Bound respectively. Mint Leaf is said to be the stable elect.
_ Piuthair promises to start favourite in the Cup. Benzora will be a good favourite in the sprint event, and will be ridden by S.-J. Mackie. There is a disposition to .befriend Nadarino. Silver Mine, engaged in the Juvenile Handicap, galloped an extra smart five furlongs at Hawera yesterday.
