STATE ADVANCES
LOANS BEING EXPEDITED
(By Telegraph.)
(Special to "The Evening Post.")
AUCKLAND, This Day. In reply to a telegram from Mr. W. J. Jordan, M.P. for Manukau, suggesting that many State Advances loans were long overdue, and that they should be expedited in order to give work to a number of' unemployed, the ActingPrime Minister (the Hon. Downie Stewart) stated:—"l am advised by the State Advances Superintendent that applications for building loans are being dealt with as expeditiously as possible, and are now approximately only six months in arrears. It is 'true that there are a few earlier applications not yet considered, because of failure to comply with certain requisitions made by the Department. These applications are at present being further looked into, with a view to their early consideration."
Commenting on this message, Mr. Jordan contended that it would be economically sound for the Department to expedite the granting of loans, as many men had to accept charitable aid owing' to unemployment.
