Sir, —There has been some correspondence recently in reference to the state of the road between Otaki and Waikanae. Admittedly that portion of the road is bad, and there is genuine cause for complaint. But have your correspondents travelled over Wellington terrace and Mount street?. Both are city- streets carrying a tremendous lot of traffic, and one would expect them to be in reasonably, good condition, but what are they like? They are full of pot-holes and young hillocks. It is no exaggeration to say that in no large town in New Zealand will one find streets in a worse state than either of those referred to. 'They are a disgrace to the city, and one can. only marvel at the endurance of motgrists and residents who have to suffer, the present state of things.' . ■■ , ■ ;' And, Mr. Editor, what is being done with that dangerous part of Salamanca road near.the cable car bridge? It is a regular deathtrap, but nobody seems to care.
