HOUSE' BY. EXPLOSION.

; CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. A terrific explosion, which shook the whole neighbourhood, occurred in the home of'E. A. Emniett, carrier, at 36, Francis street, Bnrwood, at 1.30 a.m. to-day, 'and 1 the back portion of the house was wrecked. The family had a narrow escape, and no one was injured., The explosion is thought to-have been due to- blasting powder which Emmett had stored in preserving jars..; ';""-. t \j :
